LABORATORY METHODS FOR FLUID DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT


Weidmann presents a seminar on diagnostic testing of electrical equipment utilizing laboratory methods.  Dissolved gas analysis (DGA), degradation of cellulose insulation, dielectric fluid assessment, oil circuit breaker (OCB), and load tap changer (LTC) diagnostic evaluation will be discussed.  Electrical engineers, technicians, and anyone responsible for electrical equipment maintenance will benefit from the valuable ideas and suggestions that will be presented.

 INSTRUCTORS:
Fredi Jakob, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Analytical Chemistry at California State University, Sacramento and Technical Consultant for Weidmann Diagnostic Solutions Inc.  Since 1972, Dr. Jakob has worked in the area of developing analytical methods related to insulating fluids used in electrical equipment.  Dr. Jakob is a member of the IEEE Insulating Fluids Committee and was instrumental in the development of ASTM Method D-3612.

Karl Jakob, P.E., is the Director of Business Development for Weidmann Diagnostic Solutions Inc.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from California State University Sacramento and is a Registered Electrical Engineer in the State of California.  Karl is an active member of the IEEE Transformers Committee.

David Koehler is the Manager of Education for WEIDMANN DIAGNOSTIC SOLUTIONS INC.  David received his BA in Chemistry from Indiana University and MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.  He has over 10 years of experience in the testing of insulating fluids and management of insulating fluid laboratories.  David is a member of ASTM, ACS, and an Executive Committee Member for the Central Indiana IEEE Section.

Fredi and Karl Jakob have co-authored several papers on oil diagnostic applications, which have been published in trade journals.  They have presented at technical conferences including ASTM, Doble, EPRI, IEEE, and NETA.
